For the rest of my life, I will be someone not to be trifled with.
A few days ago, I saw a quote on Zhihu: "Even if you lie down and let others step on you, some will still complain that you're not comfortable to walk on." Suddenly, I felt this was very realistic.
When we were young, adults always taught us to be kind and sensible. But as we grow up, we realize that not everyone is like us. The more sensible you are, the less people take you seriously; the less trouble you cause, the less people care about you. You're always thinking of others, but who considers your feelings? Kindness without teeth becomes weakness. Your constant concessions only embolden others; your forbearance and sacrifice only make them take advantage. You endure humiliation and silently bear countless grievances for others, but you should know that even if you help them a hundred times, if you refuse even once, they will turn their backs on you and accuse you of being selfish. Actually, there's nothing wrong with being kind, just don't give your sincerity to the wrong person and let them take advantage of you. Sometimes, learning to be a "not-too-troublesome" person can make things much easier!
There was a very popular TV series called "Story of Yanxi Palace" before, and all my friends who watched it raved about it. The reason is simple: the female lead, Wei Yingluo, is different from the typical naive and sweet heroines in TV dramas; she's a truly ruthless character. Wei Yingluo is decisive, vengeful, and will never tolerate being bullied or schemed against. Instead, she will find ways to get revenge. She even has a famous line in the show: "I, Wei Yingluo, am naturally short-tempered and not to be trifled with. If anyone dares to nag, I have plenty of ways to deal with them!" The best way to deal with those who bully the weak and fear the strong is to adopt an attitude like Wei Yingluo, showing everyone that you don't like to cause trouble, but you're definitely not afraid of it either. Sometimes, taking a step back doesn't lead to a brighter future, but rather to the other party taking advantage of you even more. Be a person with principles and a temper, and others won't easily look down on you and then exploit you.
Remember, I will not offend others unless they offend me; if they do offend me, I will retaliate twofold!
There's no need to live a life of constant self-sacrifice to please others; that's exhausting. No matter how perfect you are, there will always be people who dislike you. So why not be your most authentic self? It may not be perfect, but it will be carefree and joyful. Listen to what others say and let it go; don't take it to heart. You don't need to please or flatter anyone. You are you, unique.
I will be good to those who are good to me, and I will be wary of those who scheme against me. Don't be afraid of offending people, because some relationships are better left unrequited.
In a relationship, the most important thing isn't money or status, but a sincere heart. Those who know how to give are worth cherishing; those who only know how to take are better left behind.
