Watching the sunrise at the beach

A few days ago, I went to Nandaihe for a short stay. Before leaving, I planned to go to the beach every morning to watch the sunrise.

Because it's very close to the beach, I got up very early every day to go. For several days in a row, the sky was overcast, and by the time the sun finally peeked out, it was already high overhead, which was quite disappointing.

On the last night, it even rained heavily, making it seem like there was no hope. But I still held onto a sliver of hope and stubbornly set my alarm for 4:50. When I woke up and opened the curtains, the rain had stopped. I quickly got ready and rushed out the door.

Although it wasn't fully light yet, the sky was already showing a bright blue, which boosted my confidence, and I quickened my pace, hoping that my efforts would be rewarded.

I was worried that I would be late, but thankfully, the sun hadn't risen yet. The sea was still vast and magnificent, but it was very different from the previous days. The originally dark green sea surface was now evenly coated with a layer of mixed colors, shimmering with gold, silver, and blue light, which was exceptionally beautiful against the backdrop of the azure sky. Numerous seabirds soared and sang between the blue sky and the sea, a scene of breathtaking beauty. A rosy glow appeared on the eastern horizon, and groups of tourists pointed and gazed in that direction. Suddenly, a small, golden-red semicircle appeared beneath the glow—the sun had risen, and the crowd stirred with excitement. The half-sun gradually grew larger, dyeing the surrounding clouds and sea surface golden. At that moment, another red sun was reflected on the sea, the two suns seemingly trying to break free from each other, yet remaining inextricably linked. The red sun in the sea became increasingly irregular, dissipating into a long, rippling golden wave.

Watching the entire sea bathed in golden light, I felt only excitement and exhilaration. Phrases flashed through my mind: "the setting sun melting gold," "the sun bathing in gold." The sun bathed in the sea, the sun poured boiling steel onto the ocean…

In just a few minutes, the sun quickly rose, and the reflection in the sea vanished instantly. The sun became very bright, dazzling, and impossible to look directly at. Everything on the sea and shore—the beach, the boats, the tourists, and of course myself—was bathed in golden light, a truly divine illumination.

On the morning of August 21st, we witnessed the most beautiful sunrise at Nandaihe Beach, the greatest reward of this trip. "Such a scene should only exist in heaven; it's rare to see it on earth." To have been fortunate enough to witness such beauty made the trip truly worthwhile.
