Reading accompanies my growth
"Books hold houses of gold, books hold beauties like jade." When I was little, I didn't understand the meaning of this saying, nor did I understand why books contained those things. Back then, I couldn't read. My parents were busy with work and left me at home, afraid I'd damage them, so they gave me two picture books filled with pictures
and very few words. I would take them and look at the pictures—beautiful mermaids, foolish kings, and pretty princesses. When my parents came home, they would read to me whenever they had time, and I grew up reading. In elementary school, because it was the age for playing, I didn't read anymore. However, in third grade, I developed a love for reading, specifically composition books. I enjoyed those that recorded the little things that happened around me; I found them very interesting. In middle school, my homeroom teacher loved reading and said we should cultivate good reading habits. She used class funds to buy over 100 books, and some were brought from home by students. However, although my classmates loved reading, they didn't take good care of the books. I always found some books damaged, and I would always use tape to fix them.
Books are the nourishment of the human spirit. People shouldn't only focus on material enjoyment; they should spend more time in libraries, sitting there quietly with a good book for an afternoon. Reflecting on the content allows this spiritual nourishment to enter the mind, elevating one's thinking.
Reading is a joyful activity. Sitting on a balcony in the afternoon sun, holding a good book, and carefully reading is a very pleasant experience.
Reading is an art of enjoying life. As the saying goes, "I love reading, not seeking deep understanding, but whenever I grasp the meaning, I am so delighted that I forget to eat." When you are bored and depressed, reading can bring you joy; when you are confused and melancholy, reading can calm your mind and help you see the path ahead; when you are happy, reading can help you discover more of the beauty around you and help you better appreciate life.
Since I started reading, I have discovered a wealth of interesting knowledge in books, prompting me to delve deeper and explore further. Therefore, my knowledge has broadened considerably. With a wider knowledge base, writing has become much smoother. The changes I've experienced since reading have been tremendous. I've transformed from a restless person into a quiet one, because I've found inner peace in books. Find the benefits and joys of reading in books yourself!
